Consultation on CHRE's revised Performance Review Standards of Good Regulation and Process

The performance review is our annual check on how effective the health professional regulators have been in protecting the public and promoting confidence in health professionals through their regulatory functions. We are required to report our findings to Parliament annually.

We decided to review our current approach to the Performance Review which has been in place for three years. We wanted to make sure that the Performance Review was appropriately proportionate, risk based and focused on regulatory outcomes, was providing the information that we needed to be able to report on whether the regulators are fulfilling their functions as well as helping the regulators to protect the public.

We are now keen to hear the views of a wide range of people and organisations on our proposed revised process and standards for the performance review, including members of the public, groups representing patient and public interests, employers’ groups and registrant defence organisations.

We want to know whether you think our Standards of Good Regulation are focused on the right issues and outcomes and whether our process will allow us to robustly review the performance of the regulators.

A copy of the consultation is available for review (also available in Welsh).  You can respond to the consultation in writing to Emma Kelly-Dempster, Kierran Cross, 11 Strand, London WC2N 5HR, via email to emma.kelly-dempster@chre.org.uk or online by filling in the form below.
